Boston Rotary, and Boston Rotaract are working together to reach out to all of you to ask a simple favor; keep the people of the Philippines in mind through a “Silent Guest” as we sit down at our Thanksgiving dinners.
WHAT IS SILENT GUEST:
Silent Guest is a program that was started after World War 2, in 1947. Just two years after the War ended, many Europeans were struggling to rebuild their lives. Many were starving.
The governor of Massachusetts, Robert Bradford, adopted an idea from a Massachusetts woman, Iris Gabriel, to feed a “Silent Guest” at their dinner table. The governor asked Massachusetts citizens to leave a place at the table to remember the hungry, and donate the cost of the meal to feeding the less fortunate in Europe.
Today, we ask each of you to do the same for the people of the Philippines.
HOW TO DONATE:
Boston Rotary and Boston Rotaract ask each club to collect donations from each club member’s family by December 6th. Please use the attached flyer to promote the program.
